We have quiet a few Usborne books at home and I won’t be surprised if you do too. Incase you didn’t know, Usborne is the largest independent children’s book publisher in the UK. The lovely Aisha , an independent Usborne organiser kindly sent us Usborne’s first word books to review.
My First Words Animals
This delightfully illustrated book is apart of Usborne’s ‘Very First Words’ series . It’s filled with lots of familiar animals, from farm animals, pets and even wild animals.
My First Word Book About Things That Go
This charming book includes over 160 vehicles for kids to discover . It’s perfect for kids to take along with them on any journey .
I love these series of books as there’s no right or wrong place to begin . Allowing your child to choose where to start and for you explore their interests . The pages are categorised into themes for example in the ‘things that go book’ the themes are ‘On the road, In the park and On the sea’ . This makes it super useful for taking outside and gives a chance to bring the book to life , by playing games where you try to spot the things you see in the book.
I particulary like using these books for Little Nuts speech therapy as the book gives you prompts eg: in the animal book it mentions the sounds the animals make and distinct body parts such as horns .
Now I know I’m not the only parent that can get a tiny bit irritated when their little ones rip pages from books?! For that reason , I decided to have only a select few books out which I replenish every so often . So you won’t be surprised to know that these toddler proof board books with round edges gets a big thumbs up from me.
Do you have any Usborne books at home ? What’s the name of your little ones first book?
