There is such beauty in gift-giving and reward too. That priceless look of joy on the recipients face it’s both beautiful and rewarding.
I had a huge smile on my face when I received my mystery box from Modeststrove London. Okay, I knew I was going to receive the mystery box. But I didn’t know the content of the box till it arrived.
That expectation and uncertainty all forms part of the beauty that I was talking about earlier. Yes, I love the candy pink coloured box which contained a matte lip gloss, Taharah halal beauty soap and three beautiful hijabs but the mystery of it all was the best part.
This mystery box has got me thinking , what happened to the mystery in gift giving ? … Now that’s the real mystery!?
Nowadays people just can’t keep secrets!
My nephew has never been good at keeping secrets. We have to be extra sure that his not around when discussing anyone’s gift, or it will somehow end up on the family Whatsapp group!
We’ve taken away the surprise in gift-giving!
Oh the joy on people’s faces when they open gifts. It’s such a beautiful thing right?
I want to share a little story with you… One day we all pitched in and brought my brother a lovely new laptop for his birthday . You should have seen the look on his face ….. Well … there was none, no expression what’s so ever! There was nothing wrong with the gift , in fact it was exactly what he wanted. Where was the joy on his face you ask ? … You see he already knew what he was getting .
Measly ‘wish lists’ have taken over and have stolen the surprise in gift giving. We’re left with endless lists of demands. What happened to the sense of excitement and imagination?!
It is okay to buy yourself a gift!
You don’t have to wait for special occasions to buy something for yourself. You deserve a gift for simply being you. Perhaps mystery boxes may have helped to solve this mystery.
Have you brought a mystery box before ? What was your experience ?
